Welcome to Our Race Web Site
Join us on our challenging and visually varied out-and-back courses, which showcase Florida's coastal living. You'll run over the majestic Clearwater Memorial Bridge, along our perfectly manicured causeway to the beach. Those athletes in the 5 Miler will return back over the Causeway to the finish line at Coachman Park. Our halfathoners will continue south over Clearwater Pass Bridge and be rewarded with a beautiful morning view of the sun rising over the bay to the east and the aquamarine Gulf of Mexico to the west.
These courses just might be the most scenic races in Florida, as well as the most challenging, with demanding ascents over our fixed bridges. Afterwards, our athletes can relax on award-winning Clearwater Beach. Ideal average temperatures (52 low - 72 high) make this an ideal mid-winter vacation wrapped around a long-distance run.

"I loved the course, it's beautiful; I especially like the corkscrew exit off the bridge on the return, that's different. I came for the Clearwater Memorial Bridge and it didn't disappoint; the Pass Bridge and Sand Key park are keepers too. I think it's a fast course, because the hill inclines are not that steep, and what you lose going up, you make up going down. The variety on the course kept the interest up, to keep up to speed: the hills break up the flat running, there are the views of the water and the shore, the trees in the park and the buildings on the boulevard. And I thought we benefitted from the cold weather, because it encouraged us to exert more - we didn't have to worry about overheating. I also liked the hot pasta dinner after the race."

The Clearwater Halfathon was conceived in 2006 to replace our Florida Gulf Beaches Marathon, which was cancelled due to road construction at one of the narrowest parts of the marathon course. In the future, we intend to offer both the marathon and this half marathon on the same January weekend, which will increase total participation.
